DryStop Sump Demonstration

Green Technology for AOD Pumps

Sentrinsic’s DryStopTM Controller for air operated double diaphragm (AOD / AODD) pumps saves compressed air and reduces maintenance by automatically cutting off pumps when they run dry.

The patent pending DryStopTM Controller is able to detect a loss of prime, or "dry run" event, by only monitoring the air inlet to the pump. No contact with the working liquid is necessary, making DryStopTM more reliable than level sensors that commonly fail due to corrosion and clogging.

DryStopTM Controller Benefits
  • Significantly lowers energy costs for running AOD pumps
  • Increases the time between required pump service intervals
  • Lowers maintenance costs by lowering need for replacement parts
  • Increases pump life
  • Reduces demand placed on shop air compressors
  • Eliminates need for level sensors or other sensors exposed to work fluid/product

Common Industry Problems that DryStopTM Targets
  • Sump pumps left running long after job is done
  • Lack of compressed air due to unnecessary pump operation
  • Accelerated wear & excessive maintenance requirements on AOD pumps
  • Process interruptions due to failed level sensors

DryStopTM Controller Features
  • Easy to install (typically less than 1 hour)
  • No complex PLC programs to write or maintain
  • Easy to retrofit into existing pump control applications
  • Automatic or manual restart

DryStop AOD Controller System Diagram
How it Works

The DryStopTM Controller is plumbed into the air line, right before the target pump. The DryStopTM Controller continuously monitors the air line and looks for the unique air signature that results when the pump has lost prime and begins to run dry. The unit does this without having to sense the fluid or ever needing an in-tank sensor. This proprietary approach eliminates the installation, cleaning, and maintenance headaches associated with exposing sensing devices to the fluids being pumped.  The resulting system is more robust, less expensive, requires less maintenance, is easier to install, and offers a more flexible approach as compared with existing approaches.
